Have you considered checking the Iomega web site for
information/support/solace?

I never heard of a serial port zip drive.

If you can get serial port to a printer port connector. It may work.

Note if you use a printer on that, you may need to get an a/b switch.

Disclaimer
My advice is as-is. It could trash your system.

You don't have an Iomega ZIP for the serial port.
It's most probably an Iomega ZIP-100 parallel.
It will work in Windows XP when you make a small change to the parallel
port setting as advised on www.iomega.com.
You can't use it together with another device on the same port in
Windows XP.
Personally I never use any Iomega drivers or software.

EPP is what I always use.
But besides that Bios setting you need to change the Parallel Port
setting in Windows Device Manager to allow I believe "Legacy Devices".
(I didn't check that again, because I tried it only as an experiment,
but when needed I will.)
In addition you can't attach a printer and the Parallel ZIP-100 both at
the same time in XP as was usual (with the special "through connector")
in old versions of Windows and Dos.
