Hi.

After I installed XP on a new PC I'm no longer able to view the contents
of a CD (containing holiday snaps) in my favorite viewer (ACDSee).

When I open the viewer and point it to the D: drive there seems to be
nothing there - no folders, not JPG files - whilst if I look at the drive in
My Computer it's fill of stuff.

How can I get XP to 'see' what's on a CD?

Regards,
Per Odegard.

It is unclear to me if you are able to see the contents of the CD when you
use Explorer?

If the case is that you CAN see a list of files on your CD with Explorer,
but ACDSee cannot access the files, then get an update to ACDSee that is
compatible with Windows XP. Mnay applications need upgrades to be compatible
and work properly.

Yes, the files are accessible with Explorer and My Computer.
I'll check if a programme upgrade is available.

One other thing - ACDSee version 4 "sees" JPG- files on the harddisk, and
ACDSee starts OK if I click on the the CD files (in drive D:) in Explorer.

I still suspect the lack of previous function will be restored with an update
to ACDSee [I have never bothered with the Application myself].

On ACDSee's website there is a software update for version 4 which takes
care of the problem.
So after installing it it's smiles all around.
