Invisable files

Recently, I wanted to create a bootable CD. I created the Floppy image but
when I displayed the files, the autoexec.bat as well as other files would not
display under the GUI. From the Command Prompt, the files will display and
after using ATTRIB, I found that the files that would not display only had
the "A"rchive listed. The files show in command prompt, but won't show under
the GUI. I have always had the Folder Options to show hidden and system
files.

Is it possible that the registry has had something added that needs to be
removed or adjusted?

Using an unprintable character in the filename of a dos file will make it
invisible to windows. I seem to remember it must be the leading character,
but I'm not sure I remember correctly. Dos ignores the character, Windows
does not, and treats it as corrupt. I've seen the trick used to hide folders
for the drek that make backdoor virus.

Mark,
Thank you. I went to the command prompt and renamed the file back to what
it should be and the GUI then recognized the file. Strange.....
