I'm trying to install the Windows XP Pro service pack 1 via the Microsoft
upgrade site and keep getting the message that
'The product key used to install Windows is valid. Please contact your
system administrator or retailer immediately to obtain valid Product Key.'
I have just finished purchasing and installing Windows XP Pro on my PC with
a valid product key so do not understand the question. Could the Product
Key have 'gone invalid' and if so how do I re-enter the Product Key?

Thanks

Greetings --

Are you trying to install Service Pack 1a and getting the
following:

The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q326904

You need to purchase and use a legitimate full retail copy of
WinXP Pro to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation,
using the new CD and Product Key.

Remember, you should also report whomever sold you the pirated
software to the pertinent law enforcement agencies; you've been
defrauded.
