While upgrading from Windows ME to XP, I am getting a
message saying that I have an invalid product key number.
However, the key number I am using is the one found on the
Windows ME sticker located on the side of my HP computer.
So now what?

Hi,

You must use the Product Key that comes with your WinXP Upgrade disk to run
it, the one on the sticker is for your WinME installation.

Greetings --

The Product Key affixed to the side of the PC is the Product Key
for the OEM installation of WinMe. To install WinXP, you must use the
Product Key that is stored on the CD packaging on a bright orange
sticker that says "Do not lose this number."

That's the wrong number. You're installing Windows XP and it's
asking you for the Windows XP Product key, not the Windows Me
one.
