invalid ms-dos function when copying large file from CD

I have a file that is 119,900 kb on CD. Using the
copy/paste function from Windows Explorer, the copy
begins, but then stops with the window message:

Error Copying File or Folder
Cannot copy CirrusCutomerBrief: Invalid MS-DOS function

I have all critical Windows XP (Professional) and Office
updates applied. All other files on the CD copy fine. I
have re-created the CD-RW twice; same result. I suspect
this is a size issue. Is there a fix available?

Thanks
Jack

Googling around gives me various reasons for this, none of which are the
size (yours is a rather small file). Here's a quote from one of the
links I found:

"The length of the name of files to be written onto a disc formatted
using B's CLiP5 must be less than 127 characters. If a file name
exceeds this limit, this error occurs. Change the name to within the
127-character limit."

So my guess is that either a) the file name is too long; b) the file was
possibly in a different format that didn't burn onto the cd properly;
i.e., the file is an .iso and was just copied; c) perhaps the file is
corrupt. You didn't give any information about the file's format, so
these are just guesses. Probably the easiest thing to do is just burn
the file again, making sure the name is short and that you are using
the right burning format.

I would guess you have got things into the Move rather than Copy mode.
Personally if I am copying files I do it by opening Windows on the
source drive\folder and on where I want the file(s), and right dragging
across, taking Copy or Move according to need (and bearing in mind that
you cannot 'move 'from a CD because it is not possible to delete that
file there)
