I reloaded Windows XP on my computer and now I am getting
no sound in windows and when I try to play an audio cd I
get an error in Windows Media Player saying that I have
an invalid MCI Device Id Use the ID returned when opening
the MCI device. But I can play music using Nero
Express. There is no info on microsoft help about this,
the only help that came close was for earlier operating
systems. Can someone please help?

Thanks!

Hi,

Have you installed the drivers of the sound card/on-board sound chips?

Yes I have, windows xp installed everything
automatically. I have the disk that came w/my
motherboard should I try to install the drivers manually?
I can play music/sound through my Nero Express cd burning
software but not in windows media player or windows ex.
Startup sound, exit sound, alert sounds, etc.

Thanks,

Carolyn
