Can someone please help ? I recently had a problem with my computer but
thankfully sorted it out after losing my NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM (which I
re installed using my xp disk) The problem is that before it starts,
the screen shows INVALID BOOT.INI File - Booting from C\windows ....

Is there anyway of sorting this problem out ? Thnaks in advance.
:confused:

In Carey Frisch [MVP] <[email protected]> had this to say:

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:
"Invalid Boot.ini" or "Windows could not start" error messages
when you start your computer
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;330184

In addition?

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

That's what your boot.ini file should look like in a standard XP Pro (will
work for Home but you can change the name inside the quotes to anything)
should be like.

The last bit (/NoExecute=OptIn) will only be present if SP2 is
installed, though.
