I have a Vista Ultimate as primary workstation on the home LAN, router connects up to
8 other machines, mostly XP Pro laptops, couple Linux machines and a Windows 2003
Enterprise server
router assigns all machines an ip via dhcp
when I initially setup the VU machine, created a share like \\myVista\myShare and
allowed everyone full control access, it worked very fast from any machine, copying
files to the folder or reading a word document etc..
now, after all the latest updates, it still works but is very very very slow. even
when I remove all other machines from the home LAN and just use one XP Pro laptop, it
opens immediately the share folder in explorer (from the laptop) but copying anything
into the share takes forever
what might have caused this or how to fix it? have dropped the share and recreated it
a number of times, no use, no diff
