interspersing numbers and bullet points

Does anyone know how to intersperse numbered examples and bullet points? I am using bullet points as the outline to a discussion, but I have an ongoing, numbered set of examples (this is linguistic data) that runs throughout the presentation. When I try to insert a list number for an example that is found inside of a bullet list, Word just gives it a bullet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

You may need to set up your numbered and bulleted styles as part of an
outline-numbered list. See
