Interrupted Typing

I am trying to type a document and i get interrupted
every so often while the pointer becomes an hourglass and
the top left cornet of the ruler goes away and something
else shows. During this times, the letters I am typing
dont show. What is going on with my software? Thanks.
 
Word's regular AutoSave? Look at Tools > Options > Save to see what interval
(if any) you are set for.
 
Thanks for the suggestion Jezebel but the setting is 10
minutes, but the interruption is happening much more
ofthern than that. Any other suggestions?
 
Could also be Find Fast or the Indexing Service doing its thing.

How do I turn those functions off?
