is this a laptop? Have you switched on the wireless if it is?
Can you "ping" your wireless router?
(Open a command prompt, and type "ping 192.168.0.1" without the quotes - or
whatever your gateway IP might be)

it is a laptop yes ,and i have tried all what you have suggested, and still
nothing

You may need to ask your internet provider for instructions on how to set
up new PCs to connect to their servers. If you don't connect to at least
their DNS server, you're unlikely to be able to connect to anything over
the internet.

If you were connected with only your DSL modem between your computer and
internet provider, the setup procedures were done through your XP machine.
When you converted to Vista you needed to re-establish this link once again
by re-configuring your Vista machine. You can get this setup information
from your provider. You will be going to Control Panel > Network and
Sharing Center > Set up a connection to network...and the rest of the data
come from your provider. (or within a step or two)

Sounds to me like the OP needs more help than we can readily provide.
Also, the issue is off-topic for this newsgroup.
The OP needs to contact his Internet provider for help, or have a
computer-savvy friend come by.

He /says/ he has a router, in which case, he just needs to plug it in.
Always worked that way for me..... ;-)

scousergraeme,
Unfortunately there is not much you can do. You need remember back to the
day when you set up you network connection in XP, get out your notes and
reconfigure it once again in Vista. You will use very similar steps.
Actually the network setup wizard also works pretty well but you will still
need some setup info from your provider. For more help, please remove your
request over to the vista.networking newsgroup.
