internet (virus???) issue

Immediately after loading XP on my brand new computer, and
while I was obtaining updates from Microsoft, porno pop-
ups began to appear, specifically,
argvideo.com/tool.html. Answering NO to entering that
website, the site appeared to not respond to my attempts
to navigate from it. My PC can not reach the Microsoft
Update site, and the argvideo site repeatedly points my
browser to it. I have tried Internet Explorer, Mozilla
Firefox and Yahoo Browsers. I have tried reloading
Internet Explorer Browser. While attempting to download
anything, my Prodigy connection shows about a 3- to 10- to
1 ratio of bytes SENT to bytes RECEIVED. This happens
only on this PC. Two other PC's work just fine on the
same account, so the problem is in this PC. I have loaded
Trend Micro's PC-Cillin, but am not able to attain a
connection that will permit registration and updating in
order to help find the bug. I don't want to re-load
Windows unless absolutely necessary.

Not so much a virus as spyware.

Get a PC magazine with Spybot or Adaware on the cover CD.

Run them and see if it cleans up your problem.

Failin that, don't waste any more time.

Reformat the HDD and rebuild the software.

Make sure you turn on the Internet Firewall in XP and stay 'clean' in what
you want to view on the net.

First have a good anti-virus and a firewall installed
and updated and running. Then try to install a spyware
removal tool such as Lavasoft Adaware, or Spybot search
and destroy, then run thier updates, then run a scan to
remove the bad stuff. Also run your disk cleanup tool.

I have been troubleshooting this issue most of today. One of my users
was hit with this Hijacker. Haven't found a way to remove yet,
however was able to decrease the pain of the ArgVideo.

Try to locate a file with a name similar to bzhdr.js on your computer
and delete it. A program called NoAdware found that file on our
computer and said that it was a dialer to Adult Content Video. It
found the file at Documents and Settings\{username}\Local
Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\{SBY16???something}

Hope this helps you. Perhaps someone with better luck removing will
post also.
