Is there a way to set it up so that Windows will automatically trash internet
temp files upon Shutdown or Restart.

In internet explorer, select tools & then internet options. Click on Advance
tab, scroll down to Security and place a tick in Empty Temporary Internet
Files Folder When browser is closed
Hope this helps

thanks!

Are looking in correct place?. Open your internet browser, select tools from
menu bar & then from drop down menu select internet options. Click on
Advance tab, scroll down to Security and place a tick in Empty Temporary
Internet Files Folder When browser is closed

The schedule a time to clean the system hardly does anything more than
present another series of steps that one has to take to clean the system. I
want an AUTOMATED solution, not a solution that requires me to manually
select more options (e.g., which drive, do I want to erase the files, etc.)

My suggestion to schedule a cleanup is certainly a little more complicated
to set up but will remove other trash as well.
the link supplied tells you how to overcome the user inputs etc.

however Jed has given you a precise answer to your question. using his
solution, will ATOMICALLY delete the temporary internet files when you close
internet explorer, no need to set up a schedule or select anything at all.

Ooops don't know what happened then I meant AUTOMATICALLY,
promise it won't involve surgery.
