This site and the people are very helpful.

Are there some basic settings that I should be enabled/disabled so that my
connection to the internet is quicker? Theses are probablt too many to list
but I remeber a while agai I was having a slow connection for some time then
I disabled my fire wall and my speed was very quick. I have a cable
connection.

I know how to get into different areas pretty easily so if someone can just
tell me where it is and what should be done that would be great.

Thanks,
Beau

Now that you connected without a firewall, start cleaning up the machine,
first with a good, up-to-date anti-virus and then get rid of hijackware.
