internet problems

laptop will not let me connect to internet on cable.always used dailup at
home/but now im bk in unv.going to school.tells me cable unpluged/but all
connections r fine.sometimes i get on /now will not let me.no help here from
school.need to get online/for school/pls. help

Dialup and cable use a different connection. Is the one for cable/LAN
enabled in network connections?
