My computer recently crashed and I had to re-install
Windows 2000. Since then my son's games do not perform as
well as before (choppy) and we get very poor performance
with the internet. We log on, do something as simple as
check two or three emails and it begins to slow down and
take forever to load a page. We are continually having to
restart the computer to use the internet. I also get the
message "svchost.exe has generated errors". I bought a
new modem to see if that was the issue but it has made no
difference. Can this be fixed? Do I need to go back to
Windows ME? If so how do I uninstall 2000? Thanks

You have a (or more!) virus. When you reinstalled and went back on the
internet unpatched and unprotected you got the MSBlast virus. You can
get this visrus faster than a blink of the eye. You'll have to fix this
virus and make sure that you have a firewall and security patches BEFORE
you go on the internet. If your son's games were playing well on
Windows 2000 before there should be no need to go back to Windows ME.
