PING is a basic communication from one IP to another. So if you get
slow reponse times, its reporting that your
connection is slower than expected

Try going to a command prompt( CMD ) and typing "ping locahost"
this will basically ping your local IP address. It will provide you
with some info on responses.

Normal culperits are firewalls, virus or spyware on your
machines.....but there are other things to think about like contention
ratio if using broadband

i ran the check with pc pitstop. when i try and view any web site from
MSN,OPERA @IE7 they are all very very slow. im on cable 10mb and has been
loading fine untill today.

Did you check your ISP's Network Status page ? - It's not unusual for
ISPs to perform network maintenance work on Sundays. You might
want to power cycle your access device to force a re-connect with the
ISP so that all network settings ( Pri/Sec DNS ) are correct. Since
cable broadband utilizes "Shared" Bandwidth, you may be experiencing
speed loss due to other cable users in your area.

will check that out thanks!
