Internet IP Routing changes

Is there a way to change how my IP traffic gerts routed through the internet
or am I at the mercy of the ISPs? It seems the route my data takes to my web
server has changed and is a lot slower than it used to be. When I do a
tracert to see where the problem is it becomes pretty obvious. I'd like to
avoid the bottleneck.

Anyone have any ideas?

You're at the mercy of the owners of each router between you and the website in
question.

With packet switching, each packet could be taking a different route, so your
traceroutes taken as a whole might offer a sampling of the routes taken, but not
any one of them is 100% accurate as a whole.

A product like PingPlotter (free from <http://www.pingplotter.com/>, which gives
you a GUI, repeating, tracert display, might help you identify any bottlenecks.
What you can do, about any that you do identify, is anybody's guess.

Rats. I was afraid of that. Thanks for your help, though.
