internet history

days to keep pages in history in internet options, why does it not ever
work? it set for 4 days, 1 day, 20 days etc, they still are there for ever
unless you manually hit the delete/clear button.
 
what does this mean ?
did microsoft put this in but forgot to make it actually do anything?

Possibly your History folder is corrupt:
[XP\2K]
Log on as Administrator and delete the desired <username> folder(s).
[example]
"C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\HISTORY"

Note: McAfee AV with ActiveX controls enabled is known to cause History

No mike, this is with any version of windows. it NEVER works for anyone.
even my uncle. we have 3 pc';s here, and my uncles. and anyone else that i
know. they set up keep history thingy for say 2 days and the urls never go
away unless you hit the clear button.
