internet fault in winxp

Hello I hope someone can shed some light on this problem??,If not
perhaps you can point me in the correct direction.

I have windows pro xp + service pack 1

I can dial on to the internet no problem,even with 2 different isp's
but
I get this fault: the page cannot be displayed

also messenger won't work

mail fails to find the pop server

no pages can be displayed.

I have tried the following

new dial up software
uninstall ie 6
reinstall ie 6
reinstall service pack 1
repair win xp pro
checked for viruses
reset all internet options to default

Hope you can help.
 
dear this cant be due to firewall (at least third part firewall ) because
all the programs are working neither it could be xp default firewall. if u
have tried formatting and the reinstalling windwos and changin ur ISP and
still u are having problem then there would be some problem with ur Modem
try to remove it and then connect it ......... i have found this the basic
cause of such problems and this problem has happened sveral times with a lot
of my frinds so simply remove modem and and then put it back

disable it temporarily if that fails. I am sure there must be a better way
of doing it though, perhaps someone could tell me as well!
