I purchased a brand new computer 2 months ago and
whenever I am on the internet I get the error Microsoft
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
close. I have gone round and round with Compaq; reloaded
the software a million times and done all kinds of things
but nothing has worked. Anyone have any ideas?

Install NetScape 7.1, which comes in many "flavors". Try the StandAlone
version, which is the browser only. Then begin to explore the many things
that NS or other Mozilla-derived browsers can do that I.E. cannot. Your
I.E. installation will not be disturbed.
