internet explorer upgrade

when ever i try to upgrade from internet explorer 5.0 to
6.0 i get the following error, Plugin error "Plugin did
not initilize properly" How do i correct this????
 
When installing IE, it's best to first do a power-off reboot, then disable
any anti-virus program you may have running, then do a CTRL+ALT+DEL and End
Task on everything on the list except (Windows) Explorer and Systray. Then
try your install again. This method will help prevent any program you may
have running in the background, and the anti-virus software, from
interfering with the install of IE. Some AV software just plain messes up
an install of IE, and other programs may be using a file that IE needs to
update/replace/remove.
 
Try upgrading to IE 5.5 >SP2. Once you're up to date with the latest
version of the 5 series then try IE6
