I have Windows XP Prof.
I can acess the internet with no problem on my AOL
account & on MSN account YET Internet Explorer will not
open, I am pretty sure it is a setting that is wrong, but
am baffled because I changed nothing, also am not sure
what to look for in the settings. I tried restoring them
to default settings...also, would like some advice of
what to set all those security settings to and yet be
able to conduct business online, I mean to stop
autocomplete and storing of passwords would make it more
difficult, but do you think they should be disabled?
Meanwhile, IE is screwed up..any words of help please?

Sounds like a probable Spyware infection, or a virus. Make sure you run
regular apps like Ad-Aware (www.lavasoftusa.com) to clear this out, as i had
the same trouble about 2months ago and it turned out to be hidden spyware
trouble.

If you want to edit the security settings, most of these can be done from
"Internet Options" from the "Tools" Menu at the top. There you can edit what
sites are trusted, what to ban, and how much "Cookies" your PC retains from
your web browsing!

If its only you that uses the PC, there shouldnt be any need to change the
password saver, just tell it not to save them in future if youre worried
about it.

Just run reglular Anti-Virus checks, AVG (www.grisoft.com) is a reccomended
one, it works well with XP. Plus regular Ad-Aware and other Spybot program
checks, this should clear out the system and hopefully assist with the
internet trouble!

Hope it clears up!
