Hello

Whenever I browse computers through the network neighbourhood, and then
close and re-open Explorer, I always get a Run-time error 217 the second
Explorer is re-opened.

I've tried a new network card (gone from wired to wireless), re-installed
Windows XP Pro (with SP2), but the same thing happens.

Does anyone have an idea why it happens ?

I forgot to add that before it comes up with the run-time error, it says the
'instruction at 0x7c9106c3' referenced memory at '0x7caa593e'. The memory
could not be "written"'

And the only way to get rid of this is to load the VS debugger and then
close that.

The problem could possibly be in NTDLL.DLL

Your subject line says IE, and the text says "Explorer"

I just tried opening a LAN share, then Explorer, and the second window
closed right away. Event Viewer shows nothing, no error dialog, and another
try worked.

In my opinion you have found a bug. I would open Explorer Help to "Send
feedback" and let MS know about it. (If I can re-produce it, so can they)

Yes, it should have said Windows Explorer...

I've sent a bug report to Microsoft. Its strange though - I've got another
computer with exactly the same model, and thats okay.
