Internet explorer locking up!

Everytime I go on either internet explorer or AOL
everything works fine except if I am going into a site
that I have to open a .doc such as a manual or handbook
from the site. The left bottom says DONE and then I am
locked out and cant do anything. I have to control, alt,
delete to end the program and start all over.
Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks
 
do u have msoffice installed ? or else u need to have the
viewer files to be installed

tell me if this works
