Internet Explorer lock-up

Ever since installing the latest Security update, Internet
Explorer 6.0 will stop responding if a url is pasted or
typed into the window or if a link is clicked. I run Norton
System Works{Symantec} I have reinstalled IE 6.o, I have
repaired win XP, I have done everything but reformat and
reinstall everything. Netscape works as does
Mozilla/Netscape.

Explorer 6 is not closing sometimes or not closing at
all. i run Mcaffe virus software & even uninstalled it
with same results. Help!
