Internet Explorer isn't saving jpeg's file extention

When I right click on a picture with Internet Explorer and save it to disk it should save it as a jpeg file as that is what the picture is that is being displayed. However, when I look at it with Windows explorer, there is no extention of jpeg, so it doesn't know what to do with it. One solution I thought about was to rename them all to jpeg's in on go, but Windows XP doesn't seem to do that with the extention part of the file name

The problem is either with Internet Explorer or something in Windows XP. When I was under Windows 98 I wasn't having this problem.

Any ideas why this is happening? It's very annoying!

Thanks

Click and hold on to the picture and drag it to the desktop.

Is it saving them as .bmp ?
If so, try emptying your 'temporary internet files' folder

If you can't save the picture as a .jpg image it usually means that your
Temporary Internet Files buffer is full. In IE click Tools, Internet
Options, and delete the Temporary Internet Files.
