Internet Explorer History greyed out?

Internet Explorer on my computer does not save any history. When off
line all history items are "greyed out".

Im using a Compaq Presario 700 and Windows XP Pro.

You didn't say, so we have to ask...

Did you click Tools | Internet Options... and adjust the settings under
History on the first (General) tab?
