Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. etc

I get a constant error situation that reads: "Internet
Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience." I have tried to remove
and re-install IE6 to no avail.
I have performed two System Restores to no avail.

All this seems to suggest that my IE6 is corrupted somehow
but I am at a loss as to how to reload it thereby hopefully
overwriting the corrupt file.

Any assistance will be appreciated.
