Internet Explorer Click Sounds

I recently installed a new program that must have chaged a sound setting
somewhere. I no longer get the little "click" sound when I click on a link in
IE. Is there any way to reset this? I've tried unistalling the offending
program but that didn't work. I couldn't find anything in the "Advanced
Options" tab of IE, and I also looked in "Sounds and Audio Devices" in
control panel but that doesn't list events for IE, only Windows Explorer.

Thanks

Go to Control Panel > Sounds and select a sound (from pull-down menu)
for "Complete Navigation" and "Start Navigation", then click "apply".

Try turning your speakers up to full volume. I know that sounds a tad
simplistic, but, I can't hear mine unless I do that. At full volume I can
hear the tic sound. For the life of me I cannot find what file makes that
clicking sound.

Also, I noticed that in my Windows sounds config, I do not have any sound
assigned to "complete navigation" or start navigation".

Use your sound recorder under accessories to increase the volume of the file.
It is stored under windows/media "windows XP start".
It is the start navigation sound you want to play with.

Thanks,

That was it! I went to another unaffected user profile to find the correct
sound to play (Windows XP Start.wav).

Just for everyone's info, the offending program was the Weather Channel's
Desktop Weather. I've been seeing sound issues come up in a few other posts
too. That program is GONE and I sent weather.com a nasty note!

Thanks again for the help.

Good tip. Works great. Thanks!

I had the exact same problem (downloaded desktop weather from the weather
channel) and lost my explorer click sound. I just spent an hour trying to
figure out how to reset. Your post helped me immediately although the click
sound is a little different and I noted on my wife's computer the complete
and start navigation sounds are not set (and she gets the click - this was
part of my troubleshooting) - regardless, it works. Thanks much mtanuska.
