Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site ... operation aborted

When trying to open certain sites (e.g. www.nba.com), I
receive the following:

Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site
http://www.nba.com/. Operation aborted.

Any help would be appreciated.

Others have reported this error recently "Operation aborted".

Rule out parasites.
