Internet Explorer and index.dats

I was very good with Win95/98/ME, but new to XP Pro.

In the older versions with IE 5 & 6, there was a privacy issue with the
index.dat files in the C:\Windows Cookies/History/Temporary Files folders.
They could however be deleted from DOS.

In XP Pro, I can not see those files in the Documents&Settings\current
user\local settings folders, but they appear to be connected somehow with
those same folder names under the Administrators user folders - wherein are
some index.dats.

Can someone explain how XP Pro is set up and how I can from time to time
delete/reset these files since no DOS?

If anyone has a third party program to recommend, I would appreciate that
also.

Thanks

In XP Home I boot in safe mode with command prompt.
Type CD\ then hit enter.
Type del index.dat /s then hit enter.
This will delete all index.dat files.
I suppose it will work the same for XP Pro.
