Internet Explorer 6.0 will not launch

When I double click the explorer icon, it gives me an error
message that states,

"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

"If you were in the middle of something, the information
you were working on might be lost." Yada, Yada

Error Signature
AppName: iexplore.exe, AppVer: 6.02800.1106,
ModName: winshow.dll, ModVer:1.0.0.1 Offset: 00009901

It lookes like a lot of other people are having similar
problems. Any help is appreciated.
