Can anyone help me I am trying to connect to a site that I have been a member
off for about 6 months I have it saved in my favourites . but now every time
i try to connect it takes me to a different site called "locate
classmates.org" no matter what way i try to connect even through the support
page it takes me back to this unwanted site.

Hi,

Open the HOSTS file in notepad, it's found under
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc. It may contain a redirect for that site, if
so comment it out (use a pound sign - #) or simply edit the line out.

Could be Malware or a Hosts table re-direct. Likely you are dealing
an IE Advanced option called "Search from the Address Bar". I would
turn this off. Open IE, Click Tools, Internet Options, Advanced (TAB).
Scroll down the listing, until you find the heading "Search from Address
Bar" - toggle the Radio button to the one marked "Do not search from
the Address Bar", Apply, OK. Then retry your link, if it does not work
post the shortcut properties here. Right Click the Favorites Icon, click
properties - when the details box opens copy the content in the URL
field and paste it into a reply to this thread.
The actual URL (Universal Resource Locator) for classmates is:
http://classmates.com

That site is dealing in illegal activities, related to movie downloads.
It's not surprising that the URL redirects to an unrelated site. Best
advice remove the link and forget about it.

Don't worry about it. There are thousands of sites on the web that
participate in "Dubious/Illegal" activities. The fact that the link is
broken probably means the operator shut down the website or that
the MPAA took legal action to close the site.

The real danger with these damn sites is that some place Malware
on your PC in exchange for accessing their content. You'd be well
advised to check your system for Spyware with tools like AdAware,
Spybot and MS AntiSpyware.

The general rule is "If it's offered for free, there's something they
aren't telling you."

Hi thanks for your reply unfortunately it didnt solve it the url is
http://www.onemovieplace.com/restricted/

The problem's not in your computer -- I get the same redirect, even
for the home page <http://www.onemovieplace.com/>. The redirect is
coming from the server at onemovieplace; I tested this by turning off
meta redirects in Mozilla.

Possibly onemovieplace went out of business and sold its domain to
the stalker site. If you have a contact e-mail address you could send
a query; otherwise I think you're out of luck.

Of course they're going to say they're legal. Would you
expect their website to feature a "This site is illegal"
warning? Would a con man tell you he's going to steal
you blind? (Smile.)

More than likely, their site has been forced down.

If you downloaded anything from that site, you
should immediately scan your system for viruses
and malware. Actually, you should do this anyway.
It's a "Best Practices" sort of thing.

Good luck!

I did subcribe to this movie place download back in July and I was
able to download a great deal of things, my favorites of course Anime
and a whole bunch of music most of them complete albums and I didn't
have any problems UNTIL NOW!! @(>_<)@ I can't even begin to tell you
how angry I am.
This are my findings so far, first I looked everywhere for any
other links, then I check the the receipt (I paid $25 for 6 months) and
since I paid with my credit card most details were listed in the
statement a phone# 800-3906035 and the transaction was done through
CLKBANK*COM DOWNLOAD. I called them and they told me they were going
to send a massage for tech. support I got an answer which I didn't
like, (here is your user id and password some computers are not
compatible and are unable to enter if the problem persist ask for a
refound) and it been back and forth since then. SO... Click Bank is
responsable for this client and they market thousands of other
websites.
I am sorry is a long story but I am glad to know is not me or my
computer. By the way I didn't get viruses or anything like it. @(^ _
