Hi folks.

When I try to download e-mail from my hotmail
internet inbox to my outlook inbox on my hard drive, it
only stays in the inbox until the next send receive, at
which time the entire outlook inbox contents is replaced
by the entire Hotmail inbox contents. This means if I
delete or move anything from the server inbox, it will be
removed from my outlook inbox as well, whether I have
saved it to another folder or not. This means I can not
empty the inbox on the server or set automatic send
receive options in outlook for fear of losing recently
downloaded mail. This leaves no way to safely automate
the dowloading process. Does anyone have some work
around advice for automating this process so I don't have
to read and dispatch all my e-mail before I can free up
space on the server (hotmail)inbox?

Thanx for listening.

Outlook's Hotmail support is essentially a window onto your server (similar
to using a Web browser) and was not designed as a download mechanism. You
can, however, create another personal folder (Tools -> Options -> Mail
Setup -> Data Files), and move messages from your Hotmail inbox to a folder
in the new data file to keep the message but have it removed from the
Hotmail server.
