Hello: I have an error that states, "an operation was
attempted on something that is not a socket". My internet
and email will not function as a result. I have
downloaded the resolution page from Microsoft, but when I
get to the part of reinstalling TCP/IP and you click on
Have Disk, it comes up with telling me it doesn't find the
drivers to continue functioning. Does anyone know what
the heck I do from this point?

Thanks, Lisa

Hi Lisa

Try resetting TCP/IP with the following from a command prompt:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

the .txt file can be named whatever you want.

can u tell us which MS article youre using - also what
happened to cause your email/internet crash - any ideas?
You can often reinstall/repair internet through the
control panel/add remove programs - add/remove windows
components (on the left pane)scroll down to the 'e' for
explorer and if you select it (highlight blue)and
click 'next' it should offer you options to repair or
uninstall it. If repair is available great - if not you
are probably running a broadband connection (with a
special modem) which uses its own set of drivers - these
are the ones XP is looking for!
