I'm trying to help my daughter get her XP computer back online but it won't
let me roll things back for some reason. I managed to get it to recognize
her cable modem again, but when I use IE's Tools/Internet Options to try and
connect I get a RunDLL error report that netshell.dll can't be found. I
checked and it's in the System 32 directory. Also, I'm being told that
iphlpapi.dll can't be found.

Try reregistering the dll's. go>start\run and type in
regsvr32 netshell.dll and then hit enter on your keyboard.
Notice that there is a space after the 32. Do the same for
your other dll. I'm not sure if this will help but it's a
start. Especially if you can find the dll. It may have
become corrupt so you may need another copy of the dll
www.dllfiles.com is where you can get copies of missing or
corrupt files. You can also do a System File Check which
will scan your system from missing or corrupt XP OS files
and replace them with the originals off your disk. For
this you will need your disk handy and put it in when
prompted to do so. Go>start\run and type in sfc /scannow
once again note the space after sfc. e:mail me if you need
more help. Keep smiling.
