How do I uninstall Internet Connection Sharing for Windows XP?

You can't uninstall Internet Connection Sharing -- it's a standard
part of the Windows XP operating system. You can enable or disable
ICS on a particular network connection.

Why do you want to uninstall it? There might be a different way to
solve the problem.

I'm trying to install a VPN client (from Cisco) and the installer gives
me the following message:

Cisco Systems VPN Client is not compatible with Microsoft's Internet
Connection Sharing for Windows XP. Internet Connection Sharing must be
uninstalled before the VPN Client can be installed.

I currently don't have it enabled on any of the networks on my machine
and I can't figure out a way to 'uninstall' it.

Any suggestions?

The message from the Cisco VPN client is wrong. It isn't possible to
install or un-install Internet Connection Sharing in Windows XP.

Disable the Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) / Internet Connection
Sharing (ICS) service before installing the VPN client, and enable the
service afterwards:

1. Right click My Computer, and click Manage.
2. Double click Services and Applications.
3. Double click Services.
4. Double click the Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) / Internet
Connection Sharing (ICS)service.
5. If the Service status is Started, click Stop.

To enable it after the installation, repeat those steps, clicking
"Start" in step 5.

According to the Cisco web site, VPN Client versions 3.5(1)D and later
have a parameter to ignore the ICS check prior to installing.

Another possibility is to install Windows XP Service Pack 1 or 2.

Simpliest way maybe just to disable ICS service (this service also
deals with the windows firewall)
