Internet connection question

My modem lights are flashing, but I'm not actually on the net, the task
manager shows no programs running and the taskbar shows nothing; how can I
find out what is being downloaded and from where?

If it is not continues traffic I will take the Computer having a little chat
with the Modem to renew or check Traffics or renewing the IP Address.
If you still suspicious download the Filemon or Processor explorer and
check the background in real time:
