Hi,

We have a DSL connection in the office shared by all WinXP computers. If
every computers are on the net, the speed suffers dramatically. Is there
any way to improve the speed without increasing the subscribed bandwidth?
We are using a Linksys router as a gateway.

Regards,

Garry

You have a limited amount of bandwhith. The cause for your slow speed is
that every computer is sharing that alloted bandwhith. If only one computer
is using the net then that computer would have full speed of the avaiable
connection. if 10 computers are sharing then divide the total amount by ten.

No way to improve speed with the setup you have. Your office needs to
consider leasing a subscriber line (ISDN) or the like. Ten users
sharing one line dramatically reduces bandwidth and speed.

Ok thanks for that enlightenment. That's very clear to me. Is it possible
then to combine two broadband connection so that I can have more bandwidth
to be share on the LAN? Don't tell me to ask my ISP to increase my
subscribed bandwidth cause its not really gonna help. We used to have
256kbps and we upgraded it to 512kbps but we don't see any difference on
speed that's why we switch back to 256. I was wondering if combining two
broadband connection might be helpful. The question is.... is that
possible? and how?
