I am posting this message in hopes that someone else may have had this problem or knows of some way to fix it
I am running Windows XP, connected to a cable modem for internet service
Upon powering up the computer, I can establish and connect to a single internet location, If I change the address to say cnn.com or usatoday.com nothing happens. The transmit packets continue for some time, but the recieve packets quit and will not start back unless i disable and then enable the connection. The result in enabling the connection allows me to connect to a single web page and then the problem again reappears
I hove norton antivirus scanned numerous times and also installed spybot to determine if this is a virul infection. Neither has found a problem.....
Help will be appreciate

Thanks.

Last night I installed a VPN connection and when I used it for the first time a dialogue box came up saying something about Mcafee reconfiguring winsock. It was a very fast message and I didn't pay too much attention to it and the vpn connection worked ok. When I was finished with the VPN, I started up Explorer for web browsing and I was able to browse a few sites before Explorer stopped connecting. The only way to get browsing capability back was to either reboot or use the network repair tool. Like you this let me browse a few more sites and then nothing. Since it was late I didn't pursue this too much and intend to have another go at it this evening but it sure would be nice if someone knew of a quick fix. I know I haven't helped you but you now know at least another user is having a similar problem.
