I have an unlimited dial up connection with my ISP: Tiscali. However, after
2 hours of use you get disconnected. At first I thought it only happened if
I had not been active online for two hours and so I used a 'ping' program to
keep the line active. But it appears that Tiscali throws you off even when
you're are actively online. Has anyone else had a similar experience and if
so is there a way around this. If not can anyone suggest an alternative ISP
for dial-up who don't do this. I will appreciate any advice.
Diana.

Have you called their tech support? They shouldn't be disconnecting you if
you have an active connection/process running.
There are lots of ISPs out there, but I'd start w/Tiscali's tech support
first.

I get the same problem with freeserve/wanadoo Anytime. I get disconnected
after 2 hours. They say they do it to prevent filling up of their servers.
This seems a bad thing to do as we pay for anytime use. If my connection was
idle for 2 hours then ok but i can be in the middle of something and it still
disconnects. I have had no response to complaints other than to tell me about
the server issue.
Not very good of them for an unlimited service!!!
