Was told to a friend about this:

http://myprogs.net/

It is to mantain a list of your favorite software and find friends that
use the same softwares. Could be seen as a way of discovering new
programs, some of them freeware.

You can sort out just the free apps:

http://myprogs.net/tag/freeware/?skip=&perpage=60&sort=title

hmm. . . they say: programs 1 - 60 of 3578 but. . . they may count
each person's input as a separate program - the first page is mostly
comprised of varying descriptions of 7-Zip. . . the next page is mostly
Ad-Aware. . .

"group by program name" (at the bottom of the above page) doesn't seem
to do what it says - it goes to:
http://myprogs.net/popular/freeware
programs 1 - 15 of 52:

Interesting idea - the "Notes" links on the ACF program information
pages are intended for somewhat the same use. Dunno who owns the site/
web pages (the ACF pages belong to ACF participants). ;)
