Interesting observation - WinXP Professional "Upgrade"

When using a retail version of Windows XP Professional "upgrade" CD to
create a slip streamed version of Windows XP with SP2, the install no longer
asks for confirmation of a previous operating system.

Has anyone else noticed this?

If you're installing over a previous installation I don't think it will
anyway.

But, if it's slipstreamed, it sees the OS right there on the same
CD. So, it knows it's there. Doesn't need to ask for it.

The upgrade version of Windows XP Professional needs to see a previous
version of an operating system. Seeing itself doesn't work. It needs Win98,
Win 2000, Win XP Home etc. It is "supposed to look on the hard drive for an
existing system or ask you to insert the CD of a PREVIOUS operating system.

On a new install (empty drive) it "always" did this. NOW IT DOESN'T!

Hi;
Knew about it but wouldn't "advertize" publicly on Newsgroups. Just let the
word of mouth be.

(:<])> Now expecting a new "Critical Update" from Ms to fix the issue!!!!
