Interaction of IE and sound

My IE 6.0 seems to affect sound reproduction when I scroll within a window
and sounds are playing, either streaming audio or a file from the PC. My PC
is a 1.3 GHz w/646 M RAM and SP2. Problem was present before SP2. Sound is
integrated with motherboard. Any ideas where a conflict might be?

Hi Joe :-)

Not sure which one it might be, but, scroll down the list here and highlight
each function and see what sound is associated with it. Then you can select
None from the dropdown list. See if that eliminates the sound. You might
try Start Navigation first and see if that helps:

If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

I think something is missing in your reply. I don't see anything to scroll
down through. Can you add the items, please?

Sorry, Joe.

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Sounds and Multimedia
Just go through each one in the list that has a the sound horn in from of
it, and see what sound, if any is asscociated with it. There will be a
small button with an > on it that will become lit when you highlight a
function with a sound, and you can click it to hear the sound that is set to
play when that function is performed. When you find the one that is the
annoyance, just put select None in dropdown list.

See if that does it. If not, then you may have to do some hunting in the
..wav files.

I guess I wasn't clear. When I am listening to streaming audio or playing a
music file and I open IE or Word and scroll through a document or web page,
the music reproduction slows down as I scroll. I do not get the effect with
FF for example. Several times a day there may also be an intermittent static
like burst of noise that lasts from 10 sec to 40 sec and leaves the PC with
(1) normal operation, (2) no sound, or (3) totally locked up XP. For this
newsgroup, I'm asking about the IE interaction. I have six different players
