intellitype pro error

Hi there

I have a problem with updating my MS wireless k/board and mouse to ver 6.1
software (current ver 5.X)

OS= WinXP Pro SP2
K/board = Wireless Desktop Elite
Mouse = Intellimouse Explorer 2

I downloaded the latest software from the MS site:-

Mouse software installs ok, but k/board software results in an error message
after it installs. The error message reads as follows:-

"Microsoft IntelliType Pro - Setup cannot continue because an unexpected
error has occurred"

I have tried uninstalling the software via "add/remove" programs, then
reinstall, but still get the same message.

Can someone help me?

Try expanding the keyboard tree in device mgr,R.click on intellitype,select
uninstall,restart pc.XP will reinstall on start up.Also,you might go to
microsoft
downloads/drivers/by date,click on intellimouse v6.1,click on kb
article,follow
the update instructions...

I would go back to the 5.x version for that older keyboard/mouse. the 6.0
wont offer anything extra for you.

also, if installing the two seperately, always install TYPE before POINT.

I get the same error for my media pro keyboard. I had to go back to 5.5
