Intellipoint 5.0 - Can't Program Mouse Buttons

I had Intellipoint 4.1 and could assign keyboard shortcuts to mouse buttons.
I got an Intellimouse Explorer 4.0 with Intellipoint 5, and no longer have
the option to assign shortcuts to the buttons (I can only choose options
from a list). Does anyone know if this is normal, a bug in Intellipoint, or
what?

Sorry to be the one to pass on bad news, but using Intellipoint 5.x, you
can only choose from lists (one list for each button) to change
functions of buttons.

If 5.0 doesn't offer those options, you can always continue to use 4.1,
but I just want to say I also have the Explorer mouse and recently went
from v4.1 to 5.0 of Intellimouse, and much prefer the newer version. The
accuracy of theh mouse pointer and the wheel scrolling functions are much
improved, so I wouldn't go back to an earlier version myself.
 
Thanks, Donald and Miguel. I see that Intellipoint 5 has been out for a
while, so if they were going to fix this they probably would have by now. I
like the mouse enough to live with the lost feature.

Install it on the system and you can get the features which you wer
deprived of in IntelliPoint 5.0 software. The latest software ha
incorporated latest tilt wheel technology with which you can us
horizontal scrolling which is not present with the Intellipoint 4.1
software and thus to bring this change they had to pay the price o
removing some of the fanatastic features. Microsoft Develpment team i
working on this issue and i believe they will bring some updates a
soon as possible. Exact dates are yet to come.
