Hi

I have an Intel 82801 BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller
(2442/2444) and need to install the drivers. The Intel
website says to look on the Microsoft website and I can't
find anything here.

Any advice?

Thanks

Richard,

Support for the Intel USB controllers is built into Windows XP. For newer
chipsets (i.e 845 onwards, you must install the Chipset .INF update:

http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/inf/inf.htm

If your ICH4 / ICH5 USB controller is running in USB2.0 High Speed mode then
you will also need to install XP Service Pack 1, OR the driver that came
with your motherboard, in order to allow Windows to enable the USB2.0
device. If you don't want to install either of these, you can usually set
the USB controller back to USB1.1 mode via a BIOS switch, depending on the
board - in which case it will be natively supported by XP.

Hope this helps.

This is where I have to declare myself as a student of pc
rather than an expert. When I bought the pc it came pre-
loaded with xp and all requisite drivers. It is about 3
years old and supports USB 1. I have installed SP1.

I did check the bios and USB is enabled is this what you
mean by a switch? I don't know what MB I have got, how do
I check?

(If you can help further I may take a little time to reply
as I can only check the net at work and I am London-based.)

Thanks
