Hi there,

I have to install the drivers for the INTEL 815 chipset which is a
self-extracting exe.
On XP pro it is not a problem, but in XPe a component is missing.

Somehow the Windows Update for device drivers is working, but
first this is about 50MB just for this and
second I "always" get the dialog "System Settings changed" ... to reboot the
system.

I thought the Windows Installer service is the component for such things,
but
this ends up with an error which has been posted in the NG several times.

Does anybody know what the proper (smallest possible) component is to
install the 815?

Thanks a lot in advance

For all Intel chipsets you don't need to install drivers.

You can extract this install file with command prompt switch (try /? for
help) to some folder, and pick up inf files that are required for your
board.
Make components from these inf files and use them in your image, this is how
MS suggest that things should be done.

Slobodan

I had an issue with an Intel Chipset similiar to yours,
and I had to create a component for the install. Slobodan
is correct. Componentization is the best way to go with
this issue.
